Theresa Fraser is a life-time member of the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care after winning the Dennis McDermott Career Achievement Award and is a current board member for the Nova Scotia Child and Youth Worker Association. She is the Lead Therapist and Executive Director of the Maritime Play Therapy Centre and is adjunct faculty at Mount St. Vincent University.

This short three-hour workshop will review the therapeutic powers of play (Schaefer, Drewes, 2014) and how these can be utilized in virtual relational spaces.

After this training participants will:

  • Identify which powers of play are areas of strength for the practitioner and which powers of play are areas of career development opportunity.
  • Practice using play tools to engage children and youth in web-based spaces
  • Identify activities that children/ youth can engage in with those they are isolated with during COVID 19

This training aligns with Intervention planning competencies in the CYCCB Developmental Practice Method domain.

Workshop participants are invited to bring: puppets, paper, markers a board game/ cards and a therapeutic story to the workshop for small group activities.

This webinar will take place via Zoom. Upon completion, the participants will be given a certificate of participation.
